The Second Weekend

This is actually the third weekend we've owned the house but only the second we've gotten to work on it, since my sister inconveniently decided to get married right after we bought a house.

SO! Here we go.

The big news of the day is: Keith showed up! He did the drywall in the crucial downstairs areas. Unfortunately he didn't actually do it in time for us to get it painted prior to the flooring being installed, but I don't really care at this point. At least he showed up. Here are the walls now:

The kitchen is starting to look like a real kitchen! We only have a few cabinet doors left to put on.

Here is the flooring that will be on my floors tomorrow night:

Ben removed the carpet in his studio in preparation for the flooring guys.

We managed to shove it all in his Corolla:

The room with no carpet + a toilet, because Keith was drywalling the adjoining bathroom:

The hard worker:

He also had to take the quarter rounds off the base of the walls in all the rooms that will get new flooring. It was tiring, apparently.

I painted the guest room. It is red. Quite red.

It's also, as you can see, blotchy. These pictures were taken after two coats; it now has three coats and will require at least a fourth. Possibly a fifth. The pictures make it look a bit redder than I think it actually is - but still. RED.

I also painted the upstairs hallway.

It looks boring and not too impressive until you remember that previously it looked like this:

All in all, it was a productive weekend. We are both exhausted.

Accomplished:
1. Three coats of RED paint applied to guest bedroom.
2. Keith fixed up drywall in kitchen, downstairs bath, and entryway.
3. Carpet removed from Ben's studio.
4. Quarter rounds removed from kitchen and entryway.
5. Most of cabinet doors replaced.
6. Upstairs hallway painting completed.
