Day Ten
Back to work today.
So far we are quite displeased with Keith, who failed to show up over the weekend because he was sick on Saturday and had an emergency on Sunday. He told me today he would be over tonight and finish up tomorrow. Guess what? He didn't show tonight. He gets 24 more hours and then I'm finding a new handyman.
Anyway, we made a lot of progress today nonetheless.
We started with priming Benjamin's studio, which was previously an extremely dark blue color. It kind of looks like a dungeon in its current state, but that's okay because it's going to be nice soon.

Ben did most of the work on this room during the day and I finished up the edges tonight. I started taping it off in preparation for actual painting tomorrow.

I also primed the remaining orange part of the downstairs hallway. Farewell, orange walls.

As you can see, the walls were apparently an even darker orange at some point, and some lunatic decided that, while they enjoyed the burnt orange theme, they might as well put in the time and effort to repaint the room just a touch brighter.
This is what those orange walls look like now:

Ben also put the final coat of white paint on the cabinets this afternoon, and this evening I put the drawers back in and started on them with a coat of primer.

Accomplished today:
1. Ben's studio primed.
2. Orange portion of hallway primed.
3. Kitchen drawers primed.
4. Fourth coat of paint completed on kitchen cabinets.
5. Approximately 1/4th of studio taped off for painting.

4 Comments:
Seriously. Every time I see one of your newly-white surface, I sigh: "aaaaaaah..."
The masking is the worst part, isn't it? But you kids are making stellar time on the home redec/reno prject, for real. I love this shit and, like Skeez said last time, secretly wish I was close enough to head over and help out.
In other news, I think you should replace the verb "primed" with "primered." Please?
Have you picked out other wall colors? Or will everything remain white?
We have all the wall colors picked and all the paint bought. No white!
I can't wait to see the colors!
